Mary was born on 17 May 1863. She was the daughter of Joseph Anthony Lamping II and Susan Josephine Godard. She married John Hartford in 1888. Mary died 1928. Her body was interred in 1928 at Lamping Family Cemetery.
She, like several other Lamping women, came to Colorado to join Joseph Anthony and James Augustus in Leadville. There she met John Hartford and they were married. John's work was mine related; ore mills and ore sampling works. John, Libbie and children followed the boom towns throughout Colorado.
